What’s your name and what do you do?
My name’s Lucia and I'm currently a stay a home mum and a part-time wedding musician.
Who lives in your home?
My other half Paul who's lucky to be able to work at home and our two children Cillian 5 and Ellen 3.
How would you describe your home?
We moved into our new build last June, which was 3 years in the making. We designed our house together with local Architects Marshall McCann (their design consequently won single house of the year 2019 Ireland)
What have you enjoyed about your home during the lockdown?
The kids are loving the outdoor space, fields and walks around us, there is a lake down the road and we can walk to their grand parents over the fields to have a distanced chat over the fence.
Is there a DIY job you've got round to that you're proud of?
I didn't plan on tiling our downstairs toilet around the sink and I knew it was going to be a bit of fail with two wee ones. So I recently DIY'd a half painted washable wall surrounding the sink which I'm quite proud of :)
If you could change anything about your home, what would it be?
As we planned everything about the design of our new home to suit our practical needs there isn't much we would change, however we didn't have a lot of furniture when we moved in so are enjoying taking the time to pick the right pieces for the space. One of my favourite buy's for the main living area is the Hay sofa from Maven. This is where we do our home schooling and colouring these days and flop when the three o'clock slump hits!
What’s the most recent thing you’ve bought for your home?
I don't know if I'm getting old (er) or if its this lockdown but I am really enjoying gardening a lot. It can be quite meditative as many people will know, and is very rewarding during these mentally challenging times. Today I bought a beautiful Japanese maple which I'm hoping to pot into an equally beautiful pot so I can see it from the kitchen. These are the things that make me smile these days :)
What’s been your go-to meal in the last few weeks?
I've been flat out making meals - it seems non-stop these days!! However once I've dished out the ham sandwiches, I rustle myself up some delicious chopped portobello mushroom seasoned and fried in real butter, add in 2 eggs, grate some gruyere and scramble - simple and tasty.
Is there anything you’ve started to do during lockdown that you’d like to continue as ‘normality’ resumes?
I'd like to stick to grocery shopping once a week, less time driving and taking the time to SLOW down :)
