Thoughts on 2019 Interiors

You only have to switch on the news or scroll through twitter to feel like the world is a volatile and scary place at the moment.  Never more have our homes felt like a refuge away from the turmoil swirling around outside.  When we come home, we can lock the door behind us, make the place cosy and snuggle up in front of a film or get lost in a great book.  Is it any wonder that in a world that sometimes feels out of control, our homes become somewhere that we absolutely can control?

I’ve been noticing some trends in interiors for 2019 and beyond. I’m reluctant to even use the word ‘trend’, but we don’t live in a vacuum and these things do have a way of filtering into our lives.  The good thing about trends in interiors is that they last far, far longer than a mere season.  And if you live by the rule of only buying what you truly love, you’ll never go too far wrong.

Bold Walls

If you’re wallpapering, paper all the walls in a room.  If you’re painting, consider painting skirting, architrave and (if you dare) ceiling the same colour as the walls or something that most definitely isn’t white for maximum impact. The main message is whatever you’re doing, do it with conviction.

Also - watch out for Chrome. Its been sneaking its way back in over the last 6 months and in a year or two it will be like it never left us.
